“Say not in grief that he is no more, but say in thankfulness that he was, A death is not the extinguishing of a light, but the putting out of the lamp, because the dawn has come.”

A Poem
The Garden
Plant three rows of peas:
Peace of mind, Peace of heart, Peace of soul.
Plant four rows of squash:
Squash gossip
Squash indifference, Squash grumbling
Squash selfishness.
Plant four rows of Lettuce:
Lettuce be faithful, Lettuce be kind
Lettuce be happy
Lettuce really love one another.
No garden should be without turnips:
Turnip for service when needed
Turnip to help one another
Turnip the music and dance.
Water your garden freely with patience and Cultivate with love
There is much fruit in your garden
Remember, you reap what you sow.
To complete your garden, you must have thyme:
Thyme for fun, Thyme for rest
Thyme for yourself.

Andrew, always synonymous with French lessons! The children of 'The Close' had no escape. Fortunately, the Stratfold household was also so associated with excellent food and company which kind of made up for the extra French.
